Nothing Left to Say

“What’s what?” I was still cooking my food, It was titled ‘The world cleanser’.

I read the title. "It says 'cleanser'. Do you make your own soap?"

I froze up for a second then grabbed it, “sure.”

I tilted my head. "So, your one of those scientist-peoples? What kind of science?"

"Biomedical Engineering, but I did a lot of Chemistry and researching diseases."

I frowned a bit, my gears turning hard. "Is that why you're researching a plague cure? Because you can understand it and stuff?"

"Yeah, it was basically my job before all of this happened. I researched diseases and tried to cure them."

"Did you cure a lot of diseases before all this?"

"It takes a long time, I had a lot of cures in the works, but I only ever really cured a few strains of the flu and other small illnesses like that."

I nodded a bit. "That's really something. It's more than I've ever accomplished in my life. I didn't even graduate high school."

I shrugged a little, "The issue is when the cure accidentally turns into a worse disease than the one you were researching, which did happen a few times with my team, fortunately those never escaped the lab. I did have to be quarantined a few times which isn't fun. Why didn't you graduate high school?"

I frowned a looked down at my lap. "I'm stupid, that's why. I could barely get through the one year without having my teachers cry at the sight of my work before the entire apocalypse happened and suddenly, school was not a priority anymore."

"If you've survived this long you aren't stupid."

I shrugged. "That's not what my first old man told me whenever he was home." I finished eating and took my plate to the sink.

"I think you're more street smart than book smart both are equally important, but people tend to focus on the latter and treat the first like it's unnecessary."

I shrugged. "Maybe I'm just good at avoiding people. I've been doing it for a good majority of my life."

I sighed softly I couldn't convince him that he had to have some kind of intelligence without revealing my role in creating the virus, "Whatever you say."

I looked over at her. "I'm sorry. When everyone tells you the same thing for nearly 16 years of your life, you can't just... not think they're right."

"I know."

I rubbed the back of my neck before I started washing the dishes in the sink.

I put them away since I was positive he didn't know where everything went yet and I needed to make sure everything was in it's proper place.

I dried them when I finished washing them and watched her put them away.

I finished putting everything away fairly quickly.

I looked around, because it might be rude to stare/watch her while she put them away.

"I was going to inventory my supplies do you want to help?"
