"Feel free to read whatever you want. I've read them all and they're all boring and predictable." I guestured to the bookshelf.

I chuckled. "I'm quite alright." I had absolutely nothing to do... I caught myself staring, and watched my toes.

I looked at him and went over to my bed. I tried to ignore the fact it was a one-person hospital bed with straps attached to it as I sat down in front of the pillow. "So, do you remember anything before here?"

I chuckled. "We all had a life before this ****." I usually didn't curse, but I really didn't care at the moment.

I nodded, smiling bitterly. "I barely had one, but I still had one, and it was better than this."

I looked up at her. "That still puzzles me..."

"What does?" I looked at him.

I looked her in the eyes and tasted the venom flowing through my fangs. I closed my eyes for a second, breathing the urge away. I looked at her again. "That a girl... like..." I glanced quickly over her, "you... could live a lonely life. I mean... even if you tried."

I leaned back in the bed, propping myself up with one arm. "I didn't like my family life, so I stuck to no people. I had a dog, and I liked that." I looked at the wall in thought. "I hope someone is feeding him..."

I bared my fangs a bit, hissing at the wall involuntarily for very little reason. "I have a good family. Or... had. Depends on how far those cultists were willing to step out of the shadows." I saw a spider and spit. Venom hit the little arachnid and it began to squirm in pain. "Their symbol is a Spider. They live in the shadows. Thrive on chaos." 
Pete listened to their voices through the air vents, glancing at the paisley tattoos covering the artsy scars on his arm. He looked out the window. He had to find more meaning to the markings stuck on his body. To the genes stuck in his blood. Spiders were indeed reclusive and hated to be seen... but so few people would recognize that they were not the enemy. They killed off the destructive species; the mindless vermin who would otherwise destroy our world. He smiled to himself. The Cult had marked him this way to make him a monster; to embody the dark stereotypes of arachnids. But they had been wrong about him; He wasn't a weak religious zealot to be broken at the first lash. No. He would not break under pressure. He would become the unseen sentinel. He would become the hated hero. Peter parker would become a spider... no, more than even the sentinels of the bug world. He would become the spider. The Spider-Man.

I shivered. "Never liked spiders, not gonna start today."

((*puts hands in air* What the heck is with you and Spider-Man? (and yeah, although I haven't been posting, since there's really nothing for me to post, I've been reading all of it)))

((No. I started it to make a hero out of a so-called 'monster.' And no, it's not Peter. It's Tyler.))
I growled again. "You won't hear a complaint from me." I squashed the bug beneath my foot. "So shall be the fate of those spiders."
Pete looked down at his fingertips. He let a small smile slide across his lips. Tyler was a good kid before all this. He had a hard time with grades; a harder time with addiction. He tried so hard but he could just never build up the strength to do it the right way. To simply let go of the darkness and hold on to the light. He looked again out the window. Tyler wouldn't even go long without eating someone if he kept on holding on to the hate. Pete thought to himself. Just as his uncle had always said; with great power comes great responsibility. He sighed. How would he ever do this?

((*sighs* You confuse me. Just... Never mind...))

I nodded and laid down on my back. "So, you're supposed to be a vampire? I guess that means you're the only one."
