((I KNEW IT! Holy crap, I wanna do my own paranormal investigation, but I don't have the equipment for it...))

"It's my pleasure. It's rare that we have this many visitors, let alone ones that Nic invites," Caldwell replied. I rolled my eyes a little bit and started eating.

Aiden: I smirked a bit and started eating as well.

I smiled slightly and started eating my food, Artemis was kinda picking at it, so I walked over to where he was and mumbled, "I know it isn't what you're use to, but they took the time and effort to make it for you so please eat," then walked back to my seat, he nodded slightly and started eating. 
((I can't remember how old I've said Artemis is in the past, but I'm going to go with 13 almost 14 from now on, he's only 12 in the first book so yeah...))

"So," I said after a minute, "I'm going to ride up to Will's fief to apologize to him and Maddie for disappearing on them during the mission and assure them I'm fine," I told Caldwell, leaving it loud enough for everyone else to hear me. "I'll head out after I get everyone to the inn, then I should make it back sometime in the late afternoon."

I looked up from my bowl. "You're leaving?"

"Stay safe, ok Nic? We'll try not to draw too much attention."

"Only for a day, at most," I assured him quickly. "You guys can survive without me for that long. Besides, if you need anything then Gen or Caldwell can help you guys until I'm back." I smiled at Olivia. "I'm always safe," I insisted, knowing that wasn't true, especially not after volunteering to duel Morgarath.

"Why do I feel like that's just as much of a lie when you say it as it is when I say it?"

"Because we've all seen that isn't true," I replied. "Everyone here knows I'm reckless."
"I didn't until now," Matt replied.
"Everyone here NOW knows I'm reckless."

I laughed a bit. "That's our Nic."

"Seriously, be safe."

"Relax, I will," I reassured her. "This isn't exactly a perilous journey." I grinned and finished off my food, waiting for the others to be finished. The sooner they were done meant the sooner I could take them back to the inn and leave, meaning the earlier I'd be back tomorrow.

I finished not to long after. "Thanks for the stew, it was good!"

"It was no trouble," Caldwell replied warmly.
I stopped, remembering something. "Oh, Cadwell, I need a new bow," I said quietly.
"Excuse me?"
I laughed awkwardly. "The bow you'd given me kind of broke. In half. Sorry." He stared at me for a moment and I was a little worried that he was going to kill me. He just sighed and nodded.

I rubbed and patted Nic's back, smiling a bit.

((Sorry, I was taking care or my fishtank. It's being invaded by snails so I had to give everything a salt bath to get rid of them))
I waited for everyone to be almost done before I stood up. "When you are done head outside," I told everyone. "I'll be waiting out there. I have to saddle up Bronze." Matt followed after me immediately since he hadn't eaten and was never going to. Once outside I headed to the little stable and grabbed his gear. Bronze immediately headed over to me and patiently let me put all the gear on him.
'Where are we going?' he seemed to ask.
"We're going tot see Will and Maddie," I told him. His ears perked up excitedly.
'I hope you're going to apologize for scaring them.'
'That is the reason for this trip, Bronze.'

((Ah, remember when it was just one snail? Then two? Now it's an infestation.))

I walked outside and sat down on a random patch of grass, waiting for the others. I looked up at the sky. The stars were so clear, I feel like I could see the galaxies. You didn't see those in NYC because of all the pollution. It was so beautiful...

((I didn't pay for a single snail but I ended up with like 40 dude it's horrible I hate snails I didn't ask for this))

I hopped into the saddle and headed over to Aiden, noticing that the others were all exiting the cabin as well. "Sorry to interrupt your stargazing, but it's time to get going."

((I used to draw bisexual snails on my math notes when I got bored. For the record, the bisexual snail was a quick, 30-second doodle of a snail using my three pen colors: pink, purple, and blue.))

I nodded and stood up. "I've never seen stars like that before. I can't in my world. The air is too polluted."

I stopped. "Seriously? That is... awful," I managed. I couldn't imagine a world where the stars don't shine through like this. The night sky was too beautiful to go on without it.

I smiled sadly. "Yeah, it is." I glanced back up for a second before looking back at him. "Let's go."

I made sure Matt stayed at the cabin then rode slowly on Bronze, keeping him at a pace to match their walking speed, and led them all back to the inn. I tossed Alistair several gold royals, figuring that he would be responsible with the and the most likely to be able to use them correctly in my world since he came from the closest place to mine. "I won't be gone for too long, so try not to worry about me. Seriously though. If you need help with something while I'm not here, go to Gen or Caldwell and they'll help you."

Alistair: I nodded. "Will do. Thank you." I put the royals in my small money pouch. "Good luck with your journey."

"It's really not much of a journey, but thanks." I smiled and gave a short nod before squeezing my knees gently and riding away from the inn. Once I was in the open roads I pushed Bronze into a steady jog towards Will's cabin, preparing for a long, sleepless night on horseback.
'I'm plenty comfortable.' Bronze lifted his head and glanced at me over his shoulder. 'I don't know what your problem is.'
"My problem is getting jostled around in the saddle and trying to sleep at the same time," I replied curtly. "I'm not uncomfortable riding you, I just can't sleep like this."
