Nothing Left to Say

I nodded slightly, “Thats good. Anyone who would tell a child that they hated them like that must have a low enough IQ to fall into Nat’s trap.”

"I don't know. He was a "high government official." He'd always boast and be off on his business trips for days or weeks. I think he was plenty smart, but also plenty mean."

“Wait what? Where did he work?” I quickly started digging through my bag for pictures, “We were involved with a lot of high government officials, a lot of them actually agreed with our project, some knew the truth, but others believed the lie.”

"I don't know, he never told me when he was leaving, let alone where he was going." I struggled to remember. "My name used to be different, used to be his last name. Tony Walker. He has one of them fancy names. Oc-Oc..." I struggled to say it. "Oc-tah-vee-o." I sounded out. "Octavio Walker, something like that."

“The city project guy?! We only got out of that because he thought completing our apocalypse was more important than our potential threat!”

I jumped at the sudden yelling. Natalie and Draven woke up and looked at us.
"W-what do you mean?"

“Sorry for yelling, just a second.” I climbed into the front seat to fill Nat and Draven in quietly and try to figure out the best way to explain.

"What's going on?" I asked again, shrinking in my seat.

I climbed back into the backseat after I talked to them, “There was this thing called the city project where the government trapped a bunch of really smart kids who could’ve messed up their world takeover plan and our project. Your foster dad was in charge of the whole program. I heard that a couple of the subjects escaped, but I don’t know much more about it.”

((Trap and exterminate, but have I told you about that part?))

I frowned and looked down at my lap. "Th-this was th-three years ago? He was away a lot... that's how I w-was able to r-run away."

((Yeah, but Amelia doesn’t know that))

I nodded slightly, “Yeah about three.”

((True, just wondering if you did.))

I nodded, trying not to hyperventilate. That guy... and that girl... they said something about a city in the sky. I thought they were crazy, but I guess it was true. Before I could say anything, Draven noted that the zombies were clearing out.

“Hey deep breaths, it’ll be fine.” Nat got back in the driver’s seat and started driving.

I started trying to take deep, controlled breathes.

“We’ll figure it out, ok?”

"What is there to figure out?"

“If he’s actually still out there, what happened with the project, if the people in the project are ok, if they can/will help us.”

I nodded. "It was in New York. I know that."

“You know the answers or you know that those are the questions we need answered?”

I was confused on to what she meant. "Uh... what?"

“Do you know the answers to the questions?”

I thought for a long second. "I have one answer that answers all the questions," I said carefully, trying to say it as smart as I could.

“Ok... what is it?”

I took a deep breath, mentally preparing myself. "I know a guy and a girl who came down from the city. They were all killed by the guy."

“So only two of them are alive?”
