Where we come from

I nodded and sat back down.

“So what’s your story.”

"Be more specific, it's kinda a long one."

“The portion about the current apocalypse.”

"Well, Icarus promised to show Autumn the world, so when he was sent to Alaska, my mom and dad let Autumn go if I went. So, we got stranded there and after the war, we had to cross all the way from Canada and that's how we ended up here."

I nodded slightly.

I glanced over at Autumn. "I just wanna get her home," I muttered. "I'm 19, I've had to take care of her for a year." I closed my eyes and tried to hold back tears. "I don't know what I'm doing. We're too young. My dad... he-he'd know what to do."

“Hey, deep breaths, believe it or not I know what you’re going through. The only difference is my sister and I don’t exactly have a home to get back to.”

I smiled a bit and looked down. "My mom would probably adopt you, your sister, and Tea."

“Really?”

I snorted a bit. "She took in 11 kids during the plague because all their parents died."

“That’s a lot...”

"You're telling me."

“You ok?”

I shrugged.

I nodded slightly.

"Are you?"

“Oh I’m just great. Yup.”

I snorted before reaching into my bag and pulling out a water bottle.

“What?”

"Nothing, just that the sarcasm was funny."

I smiled a bit, “Thanks, they as in my Sister and Tea just see me as a crazy person. Which I’ll admit I was for a while, I guess everything had just finally caught up to me and I snapped, but I’m all better now.”

I nodded slowly. "I guess this brought out the worse in all of us."

"Yeah, guess so. I am really protective of my sister by the way, despite what others may tell you. I just had an interesting way of showing it a little while ago," I said, then I heard Sam scoff.
"I don't think interesting is the right word Jamie, but sure, lets go with that," She muttered, still loud enough to be heard.
"Oh come one, you knew he was a time bomb from the beginning, you were just desperate to have a boyfriend. I had to get him to break up with you."
"What about turning the group on me? huh? They all hated me and kicked me out," She snapped.
"You were getting way too dependent on the group to the point where you almost wouldn't have been able to function with out them. Plus there was so much crap going on in that group I was shocked that the split up wasn't violent and didn't end in at least one death," I explained.
"I was alone! For years Jamie! You know how I feel about that!" Great, now she's yelling again.
"You weren't alone. I was always there keeping an eye on you," I added calmly.
She glared and muttered, "I'm going on the roof." Before climbing out the window.
I turned back to Aiden, "Sorry you had to see that."

I shrugged. "Autumn was kinda a princess when she was younger, had my dad wrapped around her finger. I used to fight with her a lot because she always threw a tantrum when she didn't get her way. The war made her grow up, though."
