Where we come from

“They don’t seem very trusting...”

"What do you mean? We can't trust them, or they don't trust us?"

“They don’t trust us.”

"I don't blame them. Those kids don't have parents and lived through a war while being born during a plague. I can't imagine too many people were helping them."

I nodded slightly, “I know.”

"Give them time, they'll warm up to you. You have a natural maternal charm."

I smiled slightly, “Thank you.”

"No problem." I sighed. "Poor Autumn. I was hoping she wouldn't have to go through what we did. And Aiden, raising and keeping his sister safe for two years. I can't imagine..." I started trailing off before I remembered. Emily did go through exactly that for me all those years ago.

“Yeah, it’s difficult.”

James: I kissed her head and rubbed her shoulder. "He doesn't have to anymore. That's why we stay together, so they don't have to grow up like we did." I grabbed my cane and slowly got up. "I'm going to go check on them."

I nodded slightly and kissed his cheek.

I smiled and limped to and up the stairs.
Claire: I laid my head on Trev's chest. "Should we have a memorial for Icarus? Maybe Tea has a picture of him that we can put up on the wall."

“Not yet, I don’t think Tea or Autumn are up for that...”

I nodded. "Alright."

I leaned back a bit.

After another couple of minutes, the familiar noise of James hobbling to the stairs and slowly making his descent one wooden clunk at a time became louder until he was at the living room, collapsing on the couch next to Emily. "Everyone's good," he informed us.

I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder.

I yawned a bit and looked at Trev. "You tired?" I muttered.

Trev: I nodded slightly, “Yeah.”

I nodded and stood up, grabbing his hand. "We're going to turn in for the night," I informed the others before leading him out of the room.

I smiled slightly and left with her.

Aubrey: I watched them leave, going outside to the cottage right outside the cabin. "So, what now?"

((Okay, so I drew up a new timeline, and what I have is:
Plague Starts, wiping out more than half the world's remaining earth population
3 years of plague, then Aiden is born.
6 more years of plague
Big rainstorm and mass air cleaning projects go into play
Peace for 5 years
War for 5 years wiping out a large portion of the remaining and was slowly growing population
Silence for 3 years, population picking up pieces after being mugged, ran over by a car, then steamrolled and this is where we're at now.))
