I nodded a little, "Hey I'll be right back ok? I feel like I need to go for a drive and my instincts have gotten me this far."

I nodded and handed him a walkie talkie before running out to the truck with the other one, I carefully refilled the gas and started driving.

I walked to the living room, keeping my walkie talkie close.

I had the windows rolled down and stopped when I heard what sounded like a baby crying. I rolled the windows up and grabbed my gun and walkie talkie before getting out and using the keypad to lock the truck.

"What was that?" I whispered into the walkie talkie.

"Crying," I whispered back before walking toward the source, when I finally found it I saw a women who looked like she was on the brink of death holding a little baby girl, she saw me and I saw hope in her eyes, it seemed like she hadn't had hope in a while, "Please," she whispered, "My baby is immune, I'm not going to make it. She doesn't deserve to freeze or starve to death." I knelt down next to the woman, she really was too far gone, not even James's cure could save her at this point.
"What's her name?" I asked quietly.
"Autumn."
"What's you name?"
"Isabel."
"How old is she?"
"Three months. Please promise to take care of her."
I nodded and carefully took the baby from her, "I promise." She smiled a little, then died. I held the baby close, then whispered into the walkie talkie, "James?"

"Yeah?" I took deep breaths. I was worried for a second until I heard her voice again.

"I'll be back in a couple minutes ok?" The baby was crying again so I gently rocked her until she fell asleep.
