The Power of the Eyes

"Because we're awesome like that."

I sighed. "Well... I could twist that... but I'll stick with this train of speech." I wlaked out into the hall and faced her, my eyes swirling a bit and the sharp fiery blue widened, a fire-white ring appearing by my pupil. "Please, Melanie. What's going on. I need to know. I don't want to hurt you guys again."

"It's a secret, but I promise it isn't bad."

"If it means me assiciating with all of you further, it's bad. I'm bad. I don't deserve to have friends, and even if I did, I only ever hurt people. Please, Melanie."

"Nope," I said crossing my arms.

The white reing went away, the blue filling in and the red hues dominating again. "Melanie, this is important. Very important. I don't want to hurt any of you any more than I have, and I know I will. If this could mean I'm more likely to hurt any of you, you muxt tell me. No one should have to live with me, and I dont' want you thinking I'm worth helping in any way, so please."

"Everyone's worth helping."

"Not me. Not after what I've done. You don't understand. I don't feel emotions the same way you all do. I'm not human. I don't know how to be human, or how to act like one, or how to act around them. All I know is I'm very, very bad. I've done unspeakable things, and I'm not worth your time. I definitely don't deserve your time. Please."

"All I'm hearing is you need people to help you."

"No, I need people to not help me. I need people to stay away from me. All I'll do is hurt you. I don't know how to do otherwise. If I could die, I would, but I can't so I have to live alone. Now please, tell me, so I can dissuade Melissa from whatever notion she has."

"What? Sorry her parents' thoughts about work are really loud."

I sighed, rubbing the bridge of my nose. "Melissa, I could hear your eardrums vibrating, your choclea vibrating, then the nerves carrying electricity to your brain in perfectly clear signals that were interpreted as sound. Please, tell me. You don't fully understand the situation. No one does."

"Oh what she was thinking?"

I sighed. "Melanie, I'm being serious. You heard me. This is important. Just by being friends with any one of you, I could ruin your lives. I shouldn't have tried."

"I already know some stuff about you."

"Yeah, you know I'm a highly volatile weapon developed by the Korean government designed to destroy the USA' government, but I was de-comissioned because I was deemed too powerful for anyone to control, and that I'm currently engaged in a massive underground war wuith my older brothers who were crated for the same purpose as me to keep the Koreans from ruling the world. You don't know what I've done."

"If you've thought about it I know."

"I haven't. I was trained to protect my mind from mind readers. Listen, I'm sorry for what I did, getting attatched to you all, but it can't continue. My brothers will kill you all, and I will be at fault."

"We can take care of ourselves, especially if we all work together."

"Not from my brothers. Not from my oldest brother. You know that."

"Don't you have all their powers?"

"Yes. But I'm only one person. There are twenty of them."

"But it isn't just you."

"NOne of you have a millionth of the firepower it takes to combat half of them, and the rest can easily beat any of you in a battle."

"Exactly why we need to work together. Our powers are different then yours. Different then theirs."
