Where we come from

"Probably... And i don't know what..."

"We'll figure it out."

"But we can't go back, i can't bare seeing him doing something to any of us."

"We might have to..."

I groaned and walked upstairs into the bedroom.

"Not yet, but eventually!"

I laid down on the bed to get myself to calm down. I closed my eyes and laid there for a second. I felt Jade get on the bed too and lay next to my legs.

I quietly got some water and sat down I needed to figure out how to get rid of this cough.

I sighed and looked around. No one to stop me. I knew someone would try if they saw me. I grabbed my knife and made sure it was sharp before I slid it into my belt. I wrapped my leather jacket tighter around me before I headed out. It was just a walk, but a walk by myself? I knew it was dangerous, but I didn't care. I hadn't rebelled against Raph lately, so, what the hey? A walk was the safest way I could rebel.
In five minutes, I was off the large property. I looked around, trying to let my thoughts take me away.
I thought. I thought about my past, how I just ignored it, but not really. I never forgot it, not once. I thought. I never told Raphael or Dunkan about it, but I never wanted to, and I made that clear when we first met.
Now, being alone, I thought about it fully. No, it wasn't about my parents. My parents died in a car crash two years before the war even started. I was on my own before the war even started. No relatives to take me in, and I ran away from every foster home they put me in.
But I was never alone.
I had an older brother, and he cared about me. He found me every time I ran away. When I was 11, having ran away four times, he ran away with me. It was fine, just me and him for a year.
Then, life happened. We lived on the streets, but we lived together. He never knew the reason I ran away was solely because I didn't want them to separate us. The time he ran away with me was when we KNEW they were going to separate us.
I never got to tell him why.
Two teens, living alone? Well, let's just say, we never found Camp Half-Blood. Luke and Annabeth were lucky.
We had no refuge, no destination for sure. All we had was each other, and that was enough. Then, life happened. And by life, I mean war. He enlisted into the army, to be able to "make a living so we have a future." He said I was too young to join as well. It wasn't until later that I learned he was glad I was too young.  So, he said goodbye, and enlisted. That was the last time I saw him.
He died in a bombing. I wouldn't have known if I didn't have a radio and listened for a list of the local dead every day. He had to pass off as an only child with no family, otherwise the authorities would have found out I was supposed to be in a foster home.
It was pure luck Dunkan and Raph found me, and that was after the war. So long ago. I was on my own for so long. I don't even know how I kept track of the years. I could barely remember when my own birthday was. I guess it was because I always remembered his birthday. I wasn't really from Seattle. I was from Nevada. I walked, and walked, and walked, and walked.
What can I say, I needed to live in a place with water.
I shook my head. That was then, and this is now. I was surrounded by more people now than I ever was in my entire life. Can you blame me for needing a walk? I felt crowded.

Jamie POV:

I chucked a ball at the wall, stupid hurt leg.

I heard something hit a wall. I pulled out my knife and hid in the nearest shadow while creeping towards the source.

The ball bounced back and I threw it again.

I looked down the nearby ally and held back a gasp and hiding behind the corner again. She didn't get very far.

I threw the ball again, "You don't need to hide."

I stiffened. I held my knife out and walked out. "How did you know I was here?"

"I'm hurt not deaf or dumb."

"What happened?"

"I fell. Don't worry I'm already patched up."

"I'm worried now because you are."

"I'm fine. Alright?"

"Alright. What are you doing so close to the house?"

"Oh I'm sorry I was in that drug store, but I decided it was boring I didn't mean to get hurt so close to your house."

I shrugged. "I just thought you would have been long gone by now." Against my better judgement, I put my knife away.

"Well my leg is kinda injured."

I shrugged.
