"I know that, I lose people a lot. I've had more than a few sacrifice themselves for me and I appreciate them greatly and I want to honor them, mostly in battle, but after a while you start to numb yourself to it so you don't feel it anymore. Or at least you try to. I lost my best friend in the Giant war, he sacrificed himself for everyone in that battle and something snapped. I just don't seem to feel loss much anymore. I block it out. Plus he isn't dead, he's still alive and well and he's home and I want to be happy for him because he's been homesick for so long, but yeah the loss hasn't settled in and I'm not positive it will."

((Did I look dead when you came in to pretzelmaker? I felt dead...))

((Not when I came in, but when you were walking back the resurant the first time, you looked totally miserable and lost.))

I gently grabbed my hands in her own. "Olivia, that is very... disturbing. I don't feel loss because I literally have no heart, but you don't feel it because your heart has been too damaged."

((Yeah I was pretty out of it, I had been working for about 9 hours at that point...))

"I'm sorry that it's disturbing... my entire life is a war, I could lose any of my friends at any given time to a pretty gruesome death, demigods don't get happy endings and if you let that get to you too much you die."

((Yeah. Did you see me waving, because you looked awkward about it.))

I looked down at my lap, my brown deeply creased. "Heroes always get their happy endings. That has been my belief for a long while now."

((Yeah I did, I just wasn't expecting you guys to be right at that window))

"Yeah that's rarely the case in my world, just look at the Greek myths."

((I didn't expect you to come walking down the street, so I guess we're even, lol.))

"Oh, I know. I'm a librarian, remember? I know all about different stories, the values they teach us, the burdens the stories carry on others."

((lol yeah))

"Yeah, but in my world all those myths are real and dictate our lives in one way or another."

"I know. Imagine if the stories that a bunch of Disney movies were based on were real for you and directly affected your life instead of the ever so refined Greek Mythology, praised through the centuries. You would not believe what Captain Hook looks like to me."

"At least in Disney the good guy always wins..."

"Yes, but Snow White kissed Hercules when they were both in their late teens. And Hercules exists in my land as well... until he died."

"Heracles and he still died."

"While fighting Cerberus then ended up in Purgatory with Cruella De Vil and Peter Pan? Yeah, I don't think so." I looked forward. "That was a weird couple of weeks," I muttered.

"Sounds like it."

I kissed her head and patted her hand. "The point is, I understand, probably more than anyone what you're going through. I know not all heroes get their happy ending."

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like in your world not getting a happy ending is the rarity where in my world getting one is."

"You are not wrong." I smiled a bit, catching her eyes with my own. "I want you to be an exception," I murmured.

"We'll see. Anyway, we should probably find the others and figure out what the plan is..."

"Hold on," I gently placed one hand on her cheek before leaning in to kiss her.

I smiled slightly and kissed him for a second.

I smiled softly as I pulled away. "You know you can talk to me, right?"

I nodded slightly, "I know, but we have more important things to focus on then my feelings at the moment..."

I nodded as well before kissing her head. "Still, I'll always have time." I stood up.

I nodded slightly and stood up.

"Do you think they're still in the Motel?"
