Nothing Left to Say

I sighed softly, “Sorry Tony, Amy’s high strung.”

Tony: I nodded quickly and played with my sleeve, looking down, not really feeling comfortable to move.
Amy: "Do any of you want a cup?" I asked, holding up the pot.

I gently pulled him inside so I could close the door.

Amy: I took a long drink before looking at them. "What do you want, then? What do you want me to do?"

“For a cure to actually work we need to reverse every part of the virus, and while I was technically involved in all of it, I wasn’t deep enough in any of it to be able to reverse it myself. So we need your help reversing your part of the virus.”

"The innate fear protocol? You want me to reverse that?"

“Last. I want you to reverse it last, but honestly I don’t think it’s working very well right now.”

I looked up at her. "What do you mean it's not working?"

“I mean it seems like as more of us come together they aren’t as scared. Which is weird.”

"It's because the affects diminish the more there are of us together." I took a deep breath. "Think about it like a norm. If one person deviates from the norm, that's super weird. But when more that people deviate from the it, the more it becomes the norm. They're getting more used to the sensation of fear, getting more comfortable, and are therefore ignoring it."

I nodded slightly, “That makes sense. There’s more though, remember that Walker guy who was in charge of the city project?”

"Octavio Walker? How could I forget that moron?"

“Apparently he killed everyone in the city, there were two people that escaped, but the rumor is only one was actually a subject the other one worked for Octavio.”

I hummed a bit before setting down my mug. "Follow me." I started leading the way to the room I had converted to my space for the boxes of files I had downloaded, printed, and organized over the last several years.

Amelia and I both followed, “Also Amelia created a vaccine for the zombie virus.”

"Great!" I called before looking through the C's. "City... City... City..." I muttered before finding the section. I went further. "City Project, Diagrams... City Project, Massacre... Here it is!" I pulled out a box. "City Project, Participants." I pulled open the lid and set it the side, revealing the files and case studies on all the people who were actively participating to be studied in the City Project. "Have at it, maybe there's a name we'd know, so we can find the living participant. They were sent up there for a reason."

“Do we have pictures for the participants? Tony saw them.”

"Pics are in the file."
Tony: I pulled the first one out and looked at the picture. "Not him."

I watched while Tony went through them, there wasn’t really any way for me to help.

Amy: "So, if only two escaped, I assume they went through with the massacre?"

“That would make sense, I’m going to have to assume the girl doesn’t know about it though.”

I pulled out the box that had the files on the planning and carrying out of the massacre. I pulled out one. "I haven't read it, yet, but I'll bet we'll find the name of one of the people in here." I pulled out a file and started reading.

I nodded slightly, “That would make sense.”

I found a file of one guy, a small picture of him taped to the front. "Now this guy looks like he has his life together, despite probably being a homicidal maniac." I threw the file of the guy onto the table for the others to see. "The executioner: Mr. Tristan Walker. Name sound familiar?"

“It’s the same last name. That would make sense, there’s even a chance that he was just raised that way and doesn’t know better.”
