Things I had forced away from my conscious came back, memories I had entirely forgotten. I saw two Japanese people, and me as a child. They were my parents. Both Japanese... They went off to work at the nearby hospital, my young mind believed they were doing good.
One day, when I was much older, they came home panicked. "We have to quit." My mother said under her breath.
"It's too late." My father replied.
The next morning, like normal, they had already left when I woke up. There was a note, which was unusual. I read it. "We love you, Ichanna. Never forget that. We're sorry." I didn't understand but, I had to go to school. When I got back, a family friend was waiting on my door step. When she heard me, she looked up. She promised everything would be okay. The scene changed, to me on a train all by myself, traveling across the U.S.
I didn't come with my parents. My parents had died. My parents who I had now... Aren't my parents. They are my aunt and uncle...

"alright. Your parents were working on genetic modification. Trying to create an army to help Japan sieze control of the world. They were trying out some radiation experiments, and then, one day... I was there, trying to shut it down. Eventually I managed to rig it to blow, thinking they were out of the building... they weren't. They died in that explosion..." I choked. "I... I'm so, so sorry, Anna... I'm sorry...." I choked again. "You were close enough that the blast caught you... somehow you survived the radiation, and it worked, changing your cells... now your mind can reach out of your body and communicate with plants."
