New Year, New February RP?

I started walking a little ways into the woods, dragging a plank of wood behind me, leaving a trail.

I followed.

I stopped after a while and crouched down to the ground, looking at the tracks.

I watched what he did.

I looked around for types of plants that animals eat. I got a piece of wood and snapped it on my knee onto a smaller piece. "Can you whittle one end into a point? It's going to be stuck in the ground." I pulled out my Swiss Army Knife and got one of the wood carving tools out.

I nodded and whittled it.

I started tying the rope on a branch.

I finished whittling.

I held my hand out to get my steak.

I handed it over.

I did a little more whittling with the stick and got an anchor in it. I did the same thing to another small piece of plank before drilling a hole into what would be the pointed end. I tied the rope through the loop and knotted it super tight. "Shove this one into the ground, hard as you can." I handed her the one that wasn't tied.

I nodded and shoved it in the ground.

I got the other end of the rope and stood on my toes to tie a relatively springy, low hanging branch and tied the other end to it. I brought it down slowly to hook it to the one she just planted. I tied another bit of the rope to the end and trailed it off, tying a loop and covering it with plants the smaller animals would eat.
"There, now when an animal tugs the rope, the anchor tied to the branch will move, hopefully earning our catch."

I nodded, “Hopefully.”

I checked it one last time. "Okay, we'll come back later to see if anything has been caught."

I nodded slightly, “Ok.”

"We can build another one. You wanna come too?"

"Yeah." I followed him to the next spot.

I looked around for more activity of animals, small animals before having her help me set up the next trap.

I watched what he did and tried to figure out what he was looking for.

"Two traps should be enough for now," I informed her. "We should return to the ba- to the camp."

“What were you going to say? Just out of curiosity...”

"The base. It's a bit of a habit."

I nodded slightly, "I'm fine if you call it that, I'll know what you're talking about."

"Yeah, but it's not really a base, so I don't know."
