I grinned a little. "I guess I got too excited to be home and forgot about it." I glanced behind us to make sure that Caldwell was far enough away that he couldn't see, since I really would not be able to handle making up an excuse about the suit working, then took his hand.

I quickly retracted the nanobots, making sure his... I don't know, dad figure, mental figure or whatever saw. I let go of his hand once it was back in my bracelet.

I glanced back at the others. "Let's get going," I said. "I'll be back shortly, Caldwell," I called into the cabin loudly enough that I was sure he had heard me then started leading the way to the market. I noticed Bronze trailing after me as if he didn't want to let me out of his sight, stopping for a moment to pat him. "I'll give you apples when I get back," I whispered to him before stepping away to resume heading to buy clothes.

I walked with him, looking around, taking it all in. It was different than anywhere I had ever been, and I had been to a lot of places. "It's amazing," I whispered.

"Yeah," I agreed, looking around the bustling town at the different shops that were set up, looking for any that sold clothing that would fit my friends. I led the way over to one, freezing as the shopkeeper turned around to face me, instantly glaring at me.
"Oh no, I don't sell to dirty little thieves," he snapped at me coldly.
I glared back, stepping forward. "Seriously? I was 7, and I was starving," I snapped back.
He shook his head at me firmly. "You should have had a parent pay for you, then."
"My parents died when I was 6! I was homeless!" I hissed, barely keeping my voice low enough to not cause a scene. After a second I took a deep breath and tossed him a silver royal. "No one wants to buy your overpriced goods anyway," I muttered, sending a final glare at him over my shoulder as I led the others away from him.
I frowned at my friends, waiting for the pity to be laid on me.

I placed my hand on his back. "Oh screw him. What does he know? Bet that jerkwad wouldn't know any human compassion if it kicked him in his family jewels," I muttered.

I sighed but managed a small smile. "He definitely wouldn't. Luckily for us there are plenty of merchants I haven't stolen from, and even more so who are nervous that I'm a Ranger and wouldn't risk starting trouble with me. Technically I outrank everyone but full-fledged Rangers and the king and queen, so most people wouldn't risk a negative interaction with me, even though I wouldn't do anything to them."

I smiled a bit. "Having a position that automatically gives you some standing in society does make life a lot easier."

I smiled. "It's actually kind of weird," I replied, thinking back to the first time I met Caldwell. "Caldwell offered to let me be his apprentice when I was 15," I told him. "He actually caught me stealing, and instead of getting me thrown in prison like some people had over the years he paid for my food and let me decide whether or not I wanted to be his apprentice. He told me I had a talent for stealth," I explained, smiling fondly. "He's been like a father to me ever since, so much so that there a moments I forget that I came from the very lowest, all the way up to answering only to the king and full-fledged rangers." I shook my head a little, looking around. "Anyway, we should get back on task." I searched for more merchants selling clothing, heading for one.

I followed him, thinking about his story. It was not at all what I was expecting and it was like seeing a new side to him.

I glanced at some of the clothes in the stalls, stopping at one to ask about pricing for a moment. After nodding thanks at the shopkeeper I returned to my friends. "Here, look at the clothes from that place. It's a decent price, and good quality. There should be something that'll fit all of you." I paused as I glanced at the shoes they all wore. "Then you guys are going to need normal shoes."

I looked at him. "Uh, these aren't normal shoes even by my world's standard. They're custom $15,000 vibranium mesh sneakers that can automatically attach with my suit, absorb kinetic energy and redistribute it when I kick people in the face, and help keep me in comfort because my feet are very heat and material sensitive after the tissue got burned off then grew back."

I paused, blinking uncertainly. "Your feet are going to stick out a lot, then," I said eventually. "That doesn't stop everyone else from needing shoes, but get a change of clothes first." I gestured back to the stall of clothes, smiling kindly at the woman behind it, who waited uncertainly.

"Don't worry, I'll wear your normal shoes and have my nanobots do the rest." I winked at him before looking over at the stall, going through some things before picking something that looked nice. "What do you think about this?" I asked.

((I literally forgot the word for "tunic" and could only call it "Tupac" and a tunic isn't even what I think I'm thinking of for what Aiden ends up wearing.))

I wrinkled my nose a little as I wondered why exactly he'd mentioned that about his shoes. Was it just to get me flustered? I shook that from my head as he asked for my opinion. I paused, looking at the shirt. "The fabric of that style of shirt can be heavy and uncomfortable," I told him, gesturing to a different style. "This would be lighter and less heavy."

I walked over and examined the material, pretending to know what I was looking for.
Kira: I walked over to Nic. "Is this an 'all women wear dresses' bull crap ordeal?" I whispered. "Because I fight better in pants."

I grinned at Kira. "Traditionally, yes, but you and Olivia could get away with loose fitting pants if you preferred that, especially if you carry weapons on you or are seen riding horses," I assured her. "If you look like you could kill someone then you should be left pretty much alone."

"Great. Looking like I could kill someone is something I do professionally." I went back to the stall, trying to find some more appropriate options for the task at hand.

I glanced back at the others. Alistair looked like he was helping Artemis and Olivia get appropriate attire, so I turned back to Aiden, seeing him looking at the clothing and trying not to look confused at it all. "How about this shirt with this jerkin?" I asked him, pointing to them. The white shirt was loose except for the wrists, the collar a little open with string, and the jerkin was black leather, buttons able to tighten it up.

Aiden: I looked at it, examining it, feeling with my fingers lightly. "This is perfect. Nice material, seems like a good fit too."

I nodded in agreement then noticed a different shirt. The material was nicer than the first shirt, even by just looking at it. The style was a bit more in fashion at the time, and instead of being plain white it was red. The was a nicer jerkin too, the shoulder bit of it sticking out more. I showed him them. "These might be a bit more of you style," I smiled.
