I pointed past her, at the river. "We should follow that. It's a fresh, clean water source and it could lead us to the coast sooner." I looked up at the sky. "If we're lucky, our fans will drop us a boat or something."

I looked at her. "I'll start on dinner. You in the mood for a berry reduction glaze or raw berries? Or, my personal favorite, the berry salad."

I smiled and kissed her cheek before getting a tupperware for a bowl and grabbing the berries. I quickly mixed several of our berries and gathered some water to lightly wash it off. "Finished!" I called, walking over to the fireplace.

"You're welcome." I got my own fork and started stabbing the berries with it. There wasn't a lot of wildlife in this area to hunt, not that Mackenzie was great at hunting in the first place, and the river didn't yield a lot of fish either.

I put the supplies away for the night before gathering some more of our firewood. I walked back over, slowly feeding the fire before sitting down next to her. "Are you doing okay?"
