"Supposedy..." I tried to look out the window, but hurried my eyes back at the shadows, temporarily blinded. "Though I wouldn't be surprised if the Cult created more abominations like me. They made Dark Elves. Why not more Vamps?"

I shrugged. "You don't seem like an abomination. If you did, I wouldn't have invited you to be my roommate."

I looked at her again. "Thank you for that. That doesn't change the fact that I hate myself,nor the terrible things I've done."

"I know. Just because you hate yourself doesn't mean that others have to hate you too." I smiled at him.

I looked away. "You sound like Pete."

"Who?"

"Peter Parker. My... friend."

I nodded. "That's cool. He isn't that one guy who hug-restrained me, is he?"

"Yeah..." I chuckled. "He learned that from rehab, supposedly."

((...Whelp, there's nothing for me to do, so I'm gonna get off a read a dictionary (don't ask). Ja ne!))

I rolled my eyes. I didn't like anybody here, except for Tyler. Tyler was a refreshing change of mood in this place.

I chuckled when she rolled her eyes. She was... oddly attractive... in a dark, needs-help sort of way.

"So..." I trailed off, having had run out of things to talk about.

I caught myself staring again... But so was she, so I continued in the awkwardness. I knew that the attraction I was feeling couldn't be real, considering how males had a tendency to be biologically attracted to females whom they felt needed their help, or needed protection. And yet it persisted.

I smiled at him again. "So, are we playing the staring game now?"

"I suppose we are." I smiled. Aaagh! I couldn't let myself do this! And yet I didn't stop.

I didn't blink, or, I tried not to. Eventually, I got bored and looked around. "If I asked you to help me bust out of here, would you?"

I continued to stare. "No."

I let go a breath I didn't know I was holding and sank deeper into the pillows. "I figured."

I tried to look out the window again, only to be bounced away again with seared eyes and a throbbing headache. "We're safer here, and besides--" I stuck my fingers into the sun and watched as they began to burn and audibly sizzle. "--I'm a vampire." I pulled my hand away and the skin grew right back over, the pain subsiding in a millisecond. "One more downside: I can't feel pain for more than a few seconds."

"Well, we could sneak away at night, when there's no sun.''

"The problem, or in actuality the good thing but the problem with that is that there's still a sun."

"I know. A girl's gotta have some hope in a place like this, doesn't she? Considering..." I looked down. "Considering what we've all been through."

I looked over at her for a moment. I blurred past the sun, giving her a soft hug. "These places are meant to give people like us hope," I whispered in her ear. I let go and backed up a bit. "Perhaps we should run, though. Better than putting up with the fuzz."

I looked up at him. I took my jacket off and handed it to him. "It can provide some shade if you hold it over your head."
