Matt walked through the portal and I trailed after him before stopping, shaking my head and looking at the ground. I was torn. I took a deep breath. "I can't go with you guys," I whispered to Aiden eventually, my heart sinking.

I stopped, sure that I heard him wrong. My smile slowly dropped. "W-what?"

((How dare you toy with my emotions! This is the intro to Liz all over again!))

((What can I say? I love suffering. I thought of this scene while I was listening to The Call by Regina Spektor (listen to it the song is so good)))

I couldn't bring myself to look at him. "I... I can't go," I managed, my voice shaking. "I can't leave home again, and I can't just leave Maddie to take care of all of our horses while she's like that." I gestured to her as she was still holding her injured head. Biting my lip I managed to look up at him, guilt tearing at me. "I think I knew all along that I couldn't come past here," I whispered. "Besides... what were we going to do in the end anyway? It was always going to end up like this. You have you world waiting for you, and this is mine..." I swallowed nervously as I blinked tears from my eyes. I hadn't wanted to admit that this part was coming, but I'd known.

I gently cupped my his face in my hands, keeping him close, taking in every detail, so I could never forget him. Not that I could for several reasons. "I have my world, but you're one of the best things in it," I whispered, not trusting my voice as my vision got blurred by stinging tears.
"I wanted more time with you, I wish we had all the time in the world, just so I could know you better. I never got to take you out on a proper date. I was going to tell you what 'Get Help' means and what a toaster is just because you looked so cute when you didn't know something. But I also want you happy." I tried to give him a smile, but it felt like my face was broken. I knew my heart was broken.

I choked back a sob. "You make me happy, I whispered. "I wanted to see your world with you. I really did, but there's just... too many things... that I... I have to do here..." I trailed off, desperately wiping at my eyes in a pathetic attempt to loos like less of a mess. I took another deep breath. "Just... you know where to find me if you get the chance to visit." I grabbed at his hand. "So don't count this as a goodbye."

I nodded. "I'll come back, I promise. I swear to any deity that is listening, I will come back for you. I'll move Heaven and Hell for you, Nic." I looked into his eyes before leaning in, gently holding his face in my hands as I moved to kiss him on the lips for the first time.

We kissed softly and for a moment it felt like none of this was happening. Then we pulled away and everything came crashing back. I gently pushed him towards the portal in hopes that somehow that would make it easier on both of us. I don't think I'd be able to handle this being stretched out any further. I didn't want him to go but he had to. Waiting more was only going to make it harder.

I gave him a smile. One last, tear-filled smile. "I'll see you later, Nic. Thank you for being you." With that, I stepped into the portal.

I sat down quickly, sobbing. I was numbly aware of Maddie watching me worriedly as I cried. I wasn't sure how long I stayed like that but after a while I managed to wipe away my tears and head back with Maddie to the horses, my heart heavy.

Matt: I glanced around my home, smiling. Detroit, with the finest technology. I glanced behind me to the portal as Aiden stepped through, immediately taking in how shaken and upset he was. I frowned a little bit as I waited a couple more seconds, reaching the conclusion that Nic wasn't coming with us. I'd expected that, but hadn't been sure it would happen. It seems I had been correct.

I stumbled into the new land before falling to my knees, staring down at the ground, hiding my face from anyone else. My shoulders started shaking as I started sobbing, not caring who heard me. I slowly fell to my side and put my arms over my head, trying to block out everything.

I glanced to any of the others to offer him some kind of support. An android trying to offer any emotional support was a poor idea, especially if left to as young a deviant as I was. Complex emotions were able to be understood, but beyond that I wasn't quite sure what to do about it. We could feel emotions, but I tended to have a hard time relating or offering help to others.

Alistair: I slowly walked over before picking him up and pulling him into a hug so he could sob into my shoulder. "It's okay," I whispered, patting his back.
I had shut off all my emotions. I didn't even get the chance to say goodbye to Nic, who was like a brother to me. I didn't want to feel hurt right now. At least he wasn't dead, like everyone else who I never got to say goodbye to, but I thought that I would at least have that. Guess that I wasn't meant to have a moment of closure ever.

I silently led the others to a bench by the street a few feet away to time Aiden privacy while he was being consoled by Alistair. I glanced at everyone, trying to gauge just how affected everyone was by the loss.
((Well, that's enough sadness for today. I'm gonna sleep some before I have to get up at 7:30...))

Kira: I was frowning at my knees, but I did was Winchesters do, which was ignore our problems and drink to forget them. However, since I was underage, I either ate a lot or gave myself a sugar rush. I pulled out my emergency pack of gummy worms and started eating.

((Oh relax I have plans. Besides, that hurt me deeply. Listening to a sad song and reading/writing that was a bad idea lmao))

I frowned and preoccupied myself with another task while I waited for Aiden to calm down, ordering 6 rooms from a nearby motel. That only took a couple seconds so then I turned to the messages left for me by various friends. Connor had left 3 wondering where I was and when I was going to head back home. Apparently Hank was getting worried about me, which was a strange thought.

Kira: "So, what's our next move, Motown? Your world, you're the leader."

((So I'm getting a new phone next week and it'll be easier to keep up with this))

((Nice!))

((Yeah, the screen malfunction is getting worse.))

((Oh, that sucks.))

((That's why most of my texts have been really short and I haven't really been on here unless I could use my laptop. Or if I am my replies are really short. The less I have to deal with the keyboard the better.))

((That makes sense. I thought you were super busy then exhausted.))

((Yeah I can't hit the send button unless I turn my phone landscape same with P, L, and backspace. I moved my keyboard to one side so I could still switch keyboards and get to symbols but I can't push either of those buttons on landscape along with the space bar and return. so basically to write quotation marks I have to hit the symbols button while it's vertical turn it to landscape to get the quotes, back to vertical to get back to the normal keyboard. back and forth depending on what I'm writing, then repeat to get the last set of quotes. that's also why my characters haven't spoken much when I've been on my phone.))

Liv: To be honest I was kinda frustrated with this whole thing. None of the rest of us got the option of staying home. I tried and the portal pulled me in against my will, but whatever apparently it happened so I guess Nic gets to stay home and I still have no powers in this world. At least Artemis looked excited about the tech, he didn't really seem to care a ton that Nic wasn't here. If I had to guess it was probably because Nic was pretty hard on him a lot of the time or he was so distracted by the tech he hadn't even noticed he was gone yet.
