Cedar: "We are capable of shape shifting. Nothing drastic, but it does help to blend in."
Adrina: I smiled and beckoned with my head. "Come. I've so much to hear from you." I started swimming a little, hoping she knew to follow.

Regan: “Thats so cool!”
Marina: I swam after her I was still getting the hang of my tail so I wasn’t as fast yet.

Cedar: "Just visualize the wings disappearing."
Adrina: I kept my pace slower for her, trying not to laugh. "Forgive me, but you remind me of a newborn just learning to swim for the first time."

Regan: I nodded slightly and concentrated on my wings disappearing.
Marina: “I guess I kinda am? I mean I can swim really well without the tail, but yeah...”

Cedar: I watched, a proud smile on my face.
Adrina: I smiled at her words. "You swim a lot? Always drawn the the water but never knowing why?"

((Oh God, she sounds like Moana now.))

Regan: I relaxed a bit when they vanished, “I didn’t realize how heavy they were.”
Marina: “Yeah, my friend and I race, I was so close to beating him before we left for our camping trip.”

Cedar: "You'll get used to it." I smiled, which turned sad. "I'm afraid I must take my leave now. Duty calls, unfortunately."
Adrina: "Friend? Please tell, I want to hear about your life on the land."

Regan: I nodded slightly and hugged him again before he left, “Thank you.”
Marina: “Yeah, his name is Leandro, he came on the trip too, apparently everyone in my friend group is a halfling.”

Cedar: I hugged her back. "Thank you for letting me have this moment. I will treasure it." I held her at arm's length again. "Remember, my home is yours now, whenever you need to seek refuge, or the war gets too much, you can be with me, for as long as you need. You don't have to fight."
Adrina: "Ah yes, halflings tend to group together unknowingly. It's a subconscious protection instinct that takes place even before they discover their true nature. As for your friend, if you don't mind my prying, what of his halfling heritage?"

Regan: I nodded slightly, “I’ll keep that in mind, thank you.”
Marina: “You aren’t going to like it.”

Cedar: I started to walk away. "And remember, don't let anyone grab your wing. If they have your wing, you can not escape. And stay away from pure iron. That'll burn you and your friends."
Adrina: "Oh? Try me, I might be more open than you think."

Regan: I nodded slightly, “Got it.”
Marina: “Siren.”

Cedar: I tried thinking of any other advice I had for her, but it was hard to cram so many years into the five seconds I had. "Goodbye, Regan."
Adrina: I stiffened and pursed my lips. "Oh. And is this... siren a good friend?" I couldn't help but spit the word out.

Regan: “Bye dad.” I slipped my hand back in Alex’s as he left.
Marina: I nodded slightly, “I’ve uh had a crush on him forever, I just found out he likes me too...”

Alexander: I watched as he walked into the trees, promptly disappearing from view. "Wow," I muttered.
Adrina: "A crush? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that term, it must be a land thing. But, based on the fact that he said he likes you..." I hummed a bit. "I don't approve... but does he make you happy? Is he nice?"

Regan: I nodded slightly, “At least we know a safe place and I can hide my wings now.”
Marina: I nodded slightly, “Yeah.”

Alexander: I gave her hand a small squeeze. "Yeah, that's good." I looked up at the sky. The sun was starting to set. That was weird... "We should head back to camp."
Adrina: I tried to relax. "Then I'll order my subjects to leave him alone. I'd be weary of the other sirens you come across, however. Queen Allura is nowhere near as patient or as understanding as I am. She might just have you persecuted personally for the audacity of courting one of her own." I scowled. That siren had just announced her siding with King Rondris only a night cycle ago.

Regan: “Thats a good idea.”
Marina: “I understand, but we’ve all been friends since we were in Kindergarten I don’t think any of us would turn on each other.”

Alexander: I began to lead the way back. "Time around fae becomes altered, doesn't it?" I looked at the sky. "It was just 1 pm, and now the sun is setting. We were only talking to him for five minutes."
Adrina: "It's not your friends I'm worried about, Marina. It's the war. The sirens have just pledged loyalty to Rondris. I'm afraid of what that means for you. Especially when I announce my pledge to Haldir come the next sun cycle."

Regan: “Yeah kinda like the dancing and everything last night.”
Marina: “What are you talking about? What war? Who are Rondris and Haldir?”

Alexander: I nodded. "Must be fae influence or something."
Adrina: I sighed. "My daughter, there is so much you don't know. Where do I even begin?" We swam to a balcony. I hadn't been paying attention to our path of travel, but we had swam to the third floor, and were now on a balcony that overlooked a majority of the inner kingdom. "There is a civil war between the mythics over what to do about human relations going on right now. King Rondris wants a genocide for the humans for oppressing and slandering us mythics for the last few centuries. King Haldir wants a diplomatic and peaceful union with the humans, a world where we can live in harmony together."

Regan: “Must be.” I walked back to camp with him.
Marina: “Honestly I can see both sides of the argument especially with what they teach us in school...”

Alexander: I looked around. The dragons were laying by a fire. Only Octavia and Asher were there.
Octavia: I looked up when Alexander and Regan finally came back. "Where were you guys?" I shouted, the relief finally coming.
Adrina: "But to call for the genocide and slavery of an entire species is not the answer! It is madness! That is why I must side with Haldir and provide aid in his effort to suppress the power of Rondris. Especially when Rondris is taking halfings like yourself to help tip the balance into his favor. Which reminds me..."
I gently grabbed her arm to hold her still while I swam behind her. I examined the back of her shoulders, but found myself relieved for there was no mark.

((So, I have this theory that mermaids reside in warm waters, but sirens reside more often in cold waters. So, Marina tends to run an average temperature because of this, but Leandro tends to run hot. Probably upon initial contact, people think he's having a fever, but it doesn't bother him until he's in warmer areas. Then he gets uncomfortable.))
